The Honda had invented the ECO Throttle technology in late twenties after getting feedbacks from its end users. The customers wanted a reliable power backup set with quite working capability. The Honda had introduced Super Quite series generators and installed their ECO Throttle system on them; they assured that the noise level would be reduced to half and almost unnoticeable. Such generator doesn’t generate more than 60dB noise while operating on full load capacity. The working lifestyle has changed due to this innovative technology. The Honda has kept ECO Throttle technology limited to the residential purpose generators only. Even the latest inverter generators are also powered by the ECO Throttle.
The small office and home users had been struggling with the high noises of traditional diesel generators. This technology has attracted such end users and every residential user started buying the super quite power generators. The technology has designed such that the customer would feel the low noise even at starting time of the generator. The following Honda generators are equipped with ECO Throttle: EU1000i, EU2000i, EU2000i Camo, EU2000i Companion, EU3000i Handi, EU3000iS and EU6500iS.
I would not recommend modifying the generator system and that would lead to avoiding the 3 years Honda’s warranty too. It’s a known fact that the generator drinks more gas with full throttle on but you could expect great good night sleep too.
The engine runs on lower RPM if the ECO throttle mode applied and it generates more torque for handling the higher wattage load. This is advisable to off the ECO mode if using more than 60% of wattage.
